Create Hotmail Account: Hotmail is the most used and new platform which offers an experience of E-mail communication that has been improved and is easier to understand. It’s a free e-mail service provided by Microsoft. It was established back in 1996. Each user that signs up for a Hotmail account will get 5GB worth of storage space and 25GB of space on Windows Live Skydrive.
It was founded by Sabeer Bhatia and Jack Smith in mountain view,California, and headquartered in Sunnyvale. It was for an estimated $400 million and being launched. It was originally spelled Hotmail , putting emphasis on the “HTML” in the name Microsoft acquired www.Hotmail.com in 1997. On August, 2012 Microsoft revamped Hotmail and renamed Hotmail and rename the service as Outlook.com. Today, the Outlook.com service provides virtually connections to Skype, Facebook, Twitter, Google and Linkedin, mobile access, built-in search and spam filtering. In 2014, Google announced its own mail service , Gmail featuring greater storage space, speed and interference flexibility, this new competitor spurred a wave of innovation in webmail.
Similar to other major webmail services, Hotmail sign in uses Ajax programming techniques and supports later versions of internet explorer, Firefox, Safari, and Google Chrome. Some of its features include keyboard controls giving the ability to navigate around the page without using the mouse, the ability to search the user’s messages including structured query syntax such as “from ebay” , message filters, folders-based organization of messages, auto-completion of contact addresses when compoion, contact grouping, importing and exporting of contacts as CSV files, rich text formattinf, rich text signatures, spam filtering, and different language versions. All these special features are free version of hotmail. One more example of a feature no longer present is the ability to create custom domain names.
Step one: Open the internet explorer and type the address: http://www.hotmail.com
Start by reading through all the form boxes, and if you know or have all the information they require, now you can begin it carefully.
Step Two: Click on the light blue button in the center of the screen that says, “Hotmail Sign up”.
Step Three: Click on the orange button in the middle of the screen that says, “Get it Free”.
Step Four: In the box next to *Windows Live ID: You will type what you want to be your e-mail name. This can be your first and last name or a nickname or anything else. Once you’ve typed it in the box click on the gray button that says, “Check Availability”.
If your name is already taken this screen will appear, don’t panic.
Try typing some numbers after your name until your screen says your name was available.
Step Five: Now you must create a secret word so that only you can access your e-mail account. It has to be at least six letters long and can include numbers and capitalized letters. The password strength means that your word is hard for someone to guess. The way you can increase the strength is by using a number or capital letter. A combination of these two things in your password creates the maximum strength.
REMEMBER : Passwords are case sensitive, meaning if you use a capital letter in your password then you must always remember to capitalize the letter when entering your password.
Step Six: Now we have to make a secret question and answer. This in case you forget your password, then hotmail will be able to know it’s you and give it to you. Don’t worry if you don’t have another e-mail address; just leave the “Alternative e-mail” box blank. Select one of the questions and type in an answer that only you’ll know and remember.
Step Seven: Now scroll down the page and you’ll see you need to enter in some personal information. This is all pretty self explanatory, if you’re uncomfortable using your real information you can always make something up.
Just type the letters and numbers shown in the picture box into the “*Type characters” box. Make sure you type the letters exactly the same as the picture –ie, upper case for upper case and lower case for lower case. Once you have typed in the “*Type characters” box click the light blue button that says, “I accept”.
Now you have successfully created your own hotmail account !!
Hotmail.com login does not scan emails or attachments for advertising information and personal conversations aread-free entirely. In March 2014, when former Microsoft employee Alex Kibkalo was arrested for his involvement in 2012 leaking of Microsoft’s trade secrets, Microsoft came under criticism for having accessed the email inbox of his French accomplice. Critics claim these actions violate privacy laws as well as Microsoft’s own promises with regards to users’ personal information, while others have pointed out that such access is permitted under Microsoft’s privacy policies in order to “protect the rights or property of Microsoft”, that it was necessary in order to prevent a crime intended to have inflicted billions of dollars of damage, and that such action on Microsoft part is unprecedented in 18 years. In response to the criticism, Microsoft has announced that it would no longer access private account information themselves in such cases, but would instead hand the investigation over to law enforcement agencies.
Hotmail.com uses DMARC specifications to provide better security for message transmission and Extended Validation Certificate to secure the user’s connection with Hotmail. On April 17, 2013, Microsoft added two step verification to Microsoft accounts, thereby by extension to this mail service. It also allows for a single-use code to be used instead of a user’s password when signing into a Microsoft account. Each code can be used only one time, but one can be requested whenever needed. If a user is signing in on a public computer—such as at the library or school—using a single-use code helps keep account information secure. The single-use code is sent to the user when requested during Hotmail login.
